YES. If the studs are fitted according to the instructions, they will remain fixed to the tyre even when driving on rough surfaces. The MaxiGrip screw stud has been thoroughly tested and developed over five years. It has been tested on everything from tractors and off-road motorcycles to snow scooters and shoes.
NO, but check that the tread depth is adequate prior to fitting. Large tyres normally have a good margin of thickness. Do not use studs that are longer than the tread depth of the tyre. The stud should be fitted so that 3 mm of it is visible above the tyre surface to ensure that the wheel cord remains unaffected.
YES, this is one of MaxiGrip’s advantages – only very small holes will remain in the tyre when the studs have been removed.
We recommend 100 studs per tractor tyre and 2-3 studs per contact patch. There are normally around 40 contact patches on each tyre regardless of its diameter. Industrial tyres normally require 150 studs per tyre. Trucks and ATVs normally require 50-100 studs per tyre. We recommend 70-100 studs per tyre for cross and Enduro bikes. Please note that these figures are intended as guidelines only and, ultimately, it is the customer’s specific needs and the situation that will determine the actual requirements.
The Hard Metal (HM) model is very durable; the X-model is designed for gravel and ice.
